(*I realize not every one of the posts will apply to all families, but again, I think if you listen to the heart behind the words, it can be helpful in understanding your child, specifically during their teenage years.)
Well, here goes (remember I do not edit them-I want you to hear straight from them)....
Okay women
this is for you…..ever remember that time when you weren’t married? You where
“young and in love” well most of you probably do. Here is the thing; most girls
who aren’t married have guy problems… A LOT of guy problems. The only thing we
want is someone who isn’t our “BFF” to talk to! (That means you mom!!) we don’t
ever want to hear your tragic love stories from when you were our age! We want
somebody to listen to our problems we want someone we feel comfortable to talk
and vent to someone we feel we can trust. Not somebody who interrupts you to
tell you stories from her past lovers and MOST DEFFINATLY not someone who is
going to interrupt you to talk you down or tell you you’re in trouble. Moms if
your daughter comes to you to talk about guy problems she is having STOP
EVERYTHING and listen to her. That is all she wants if you do that it will make
her feel comfortable enough to talk to you about more and more things it will
build your relationship on comfort and trust which if you’re a mom with a pre teen
or teenage daughter that is what your relationship should be built on. Next
time she comes to talk to you about someone or something stop talking about you
for a change and start listening to her from the beginning. If your daughter
doesn’t talk to you about stuff like that then there is probably a reason like;
you don’t listen you talk about yourself! If you want a good strong
relationship with your daughter that will last forever then listen to her
problems when she comes to you instead of talking about yours.
